Stop tracing patterns. Instead, make a copy of your pattern and apply it directly to your board with craft spray adhesive. Then you can cut right through the pattern. Just spray the back of the pattern, let it dry and apply. Spray only one surface for temporary bond or if you need more hold, spray both surfaces for a permanent bond.
